Visual identity, programme layouts, website concept
The brief
Common Ground is a fictional cultural programme bringing together exhibitions, conversations and workshops. The identity needed to feel open to different disciplines while giving visitors a reliable way to understand what was happening and how to take part.
A point of view
The central challenge was balancing a strong institutional presence with the individual character of each event. A rigid campaign style would flatten the programme, while a different visual language for every activity would make the overall offer difficult to recognize.
The design language
The solution is a stable editorial framework with room for variation. Clear typographic levels and repeatable information blocks handle dates, locations and participation details. Image-led compositions provide the expressive layer, allowing a sculpture, a space or a speaker to set the tone of a particular event.
From research to a system
The system was explored through a programme overview, an individual event page and a series of announcements. Each test considered the same visitor questions: what is it, when does it happen, who is it for and what should I do next?
What the concept includes
The final concept includes a flexible visual identity and a website direction that puts programme information first. The design can accommodate a small calendar of events without making the experience feel empty, and expand when more material becomes available.
